[endurance] Feeding morning of a ride?

Quick question for those of you out there.

I am curious how you feed your horses the morning of an Endurance
ride. Do you give enough hay to last the night and morining? Do
you give a bran mash morning of the ride (to get more water into
the horse?)

Last year at Camp Far West, it was so hot the head vet was worried
about heat/humidity combo, and urged everyone to try to get their
horses to drink as much as possible, soak hay, etc.

I went through almost a 5 gal. bucket on fran on that trip, as my
mare just inhales bran mashes. She went through the ride just fine,
with A's on hydration, but i was a bit worried I was feeding too
much bran. No problems, though.

All comments appreciated. I also plan to feed some beet-pulp mashes,
as my horses both like those.
