Ken: I do not know what it is or why but at some time during the ride (
this is my first season and I have only done 25's and 35's, usually during
the last 10,miles my horse will stretch his neck down sort of like a
bloodhound and like he is smelling his way down the trail or something. I
always pull his head back up because we are usually traveling at a speed
(fast trot or canter) that I am a little uncomfortable with traveling down
the trail that way. I will let him stretch a little because I'm not sure
that that's not what he's doing (just stretching). But to continue
traveling that way, I have not allowed. If he just stretches his neck
forward and continues going that is different but the stretching I get
concerned about is when it is nose to the ground like a bloodhound on the
track. Ii'd be interested if anyone had any comments on what they are
dointg when they do that.
