I am about 5'3 and weigh in at 110 with my tack. I ride an energetic 15.2 =

arab. We have not actually raced him yet, but I ride about four days a =

week, and up to 100 miles a week. I find that he has slighly more =

difficulty doing certain activities with my father (5'10 and 160 pounds) =

such as cantering SLOWLY up grades without loosing his momentum, =

WALKING up very steep hills (I think my father pulls him backward) and =

trotting SLOWLY down slight hills. I'm not sure yet if my horse has =

difficulty, or if my father just isn't glamerous about his body language. =

Both of our weights are fine for him, and most horse's are the smae =

way. My father also rides our shetland and welsh/arab ponies up to 20 =

miles. I recently had a 200 pound rider hop on him for a short ride, and =

he flipped out! I believe that many of our horse's can carry more weight =

than they do. Remember=8A you can change your riding position to make =

yourself lighter on your horse's back. I think that size shouldn't be too =

large a factor, as long as you prepare properly for races.

okay, flame me=8A maybe Lari will also say something on this subject.
