You need to have a good ground. Most people poor some water in the spot for
their ground rod before they pound it in. Ground rods vary in length from 5ft
to 1 1/2ft. Are either copper or steel.
Use the tape type wire, not the wire type (does that make sense?) There is
also a big difference in tape. Use the one with both wire and small
filliments to keep from loseing the charge along the wire.
If you are useing a seperate battery and fence controller putting them in a
Rubermaid type chest helps keep you from tripping over them.
Keep the controller away from the horse. Remember they have long necks, that
get longer if they want to reach something.
Turn the controls to off BEFORE you touch the fence!
The worst thing I ever forgot to pack was my horse! Thank goodness I looked
in the trailer when I went to gas up! My husband is still telling that one to
folks.
