Hi...I have used Sports Medicine Boots for a couple of years. One clinic I
attented the vet highly recommended them, but also said the downside is that
during conditioning you are also conditioning the tendons and legs. So to
use them all the time would not be allowing this tendon conditioning to
occur. My friend's horse bowed a tendon in deep sand in Ocala while
conditioning and the local vet there said he NEVER rides his horse out in
that deep sand without Sports Medicine boots. What I do is if I am not
riding really hard I do not use the boots. In competitions where there is
nasty terrain or deep sand I use them. This way I am trying to achieve a
balance between protection when needed and still allowing tendon and ligament
conditioning to occur. Shareeka, Big Pine Key, FL
