I just finished the No Frills 50 with Slypner shoes - no problems, great
legs and feet after all those rocks and roads - my horse's legs have
never looked so good - In defense of the Slypner's - they worked great -
I saw a lot of metal shoes lying along the trail last Saturday, so I
don't think it mattered what type of shoes you had on your horse, if they
came off, they came off! At the end of the ride, the ride farrier told
me to go home and thank my blacksmith for the way he put my shoes on (it
was a little joke, since my blacksmith had never used anything like a
Slypner before, and had resisted for over a year before I talked him into
it!) - I only had to replace one front insert at mile 28 because the
outer edge had been sliced off by a rock. Coming from Maine, I have to
admit, I had never seen rocks like that before!
