[endurance] New saddle on the market

In the April issue of Dressage Today, there is a very interesting
piece about "custom fit with foam." Ronald Friedson of The Tack Room
in Westport Connecticut has designed a saddle in which the panels are
stuffed with a heat-sensitive foam which, when warmed to the horse's
body temp (about 15 minutes), will absolutely conform to his shape.
This makes the saddle ideal for use on more than one horse and is
adaptable to the horse's changing back throughout the season. The
saddle has to be stored at a temperature of no less than 45 degrees
(that could be a problem in the northeast). A very thin pad is
suggested to keep the saddle clean. The initial manufacture will be a
dressage model with a price tag of $1600 to $2400, other models are
planned. Foam has to be replaced every 5-6 years @ $400.

I'll bet in the coming year we'll see a lot of new-type stuff. There
WILL be a perfect saddle !?!
