[endurance] Emergency Supplies

In addition to all of the other suggestions I've seen, I would like to add
that I carry a small mirror (Army issue) which can be used for attracting
search planes. Another good item is Benadryl, if not a "bee sting" kit with
injectable epinephrine for an acute allergic reaction. Be sure you rotate
medications from time to time (replace with fresh). I don't know if I've
seen anyone mention carrying stick matches in a waterproof container,
either.

I carry these things in a fanny pack, in case I am inadvertently separated
from my horse. The fanny pack can be cumbersome but it carries two bottles
of water and holds quite a few items. We all like to think we won't become
separated from our horses, but I have seen this happen several times over
the years. One time it was over three months before the horse was
thankfully found, still with saddle attached (alive and in fairly good
shape).

Just my 2 cents worth.
