[endurance] long-distance pulsemeters

I have a POLAR pulsemeter, the model made for people, where the transmitter and
electrodes are enclosed in a rubber-like belt 12"*1" around the chest.

I just replaced the elastic band with a longer one, and it fits the horse
nicely.

But the transmitter range is too short, I can't wear the receiver at my wrist,
it has to be mounted at the top of the saddle, two inches at the left, on the
string of my easy-boot bag.

Is there a way to increase the range?

It would also be nice to be able to use the monitor when doing round-pen
exercises. We (wife and I) use to exercise our two horses every or every other
evening in the round-pen, currently 45 min, later in the season up to 1 1/2
hour, in a 5 min trot, 2-4 min canter-pattern.
If the pulsemeter could work over the 10m radius, the pattern could better
follow proper interval-training.
