[endurance] looking for input on grain

Hi all. I'm glad to hear that people in other parts of the country are riding.
It stirs hope that even the northeast will eventually get out from under the
snow and ice and we too can hit the roads and trails.

I have a question for all of you. I know that there is no hard and fast rule
for what and how much to feed a competitve horse but I've just come across a
new grain being marketed here in the northeast by Blue Seal Feeds. It's part
of the Vintage line of extruded feeds but this is a sweet extruded feed. I've
been feeding my CTR mare (Morgan, 14.1H, 900#, 11 yo) Vintage Senior which is
14% protein and 4.5% fat. The new Vintage Sweet is 12% protein and 5.5% fat.
I'm wondering if the extra 1% fat would be a help to her and if losing the 2%
protein would hurt. She also gets approximately 15-20# of mixed grass hay a
day and she has stayed at a good weight all winter. The vet is coming for
spring shots next Friday and I'm going to consult with him on the feed but
thought I would get all your expert opinions as well.

Thanks for helping and everyone have fun riding this weekend!
