For me, I weigh enough already so I tend to go lean & mean--i.e. no food
& water for me. I have several types of fanny packs (bumbags for our
British cousins), some can tote water bottles. I like to carry a hoof
pick, small knife, vetrap (small 2" wide), 3-4 lengths of baler twine, &
a film can or two filled with electrolyte and a syringe. I also carry a
sponge on a long strap.

On buggy days I may carry one of those horse hair "whips" to swoosh flies
& maybe a flymask. I SHOULD carry an Easyboot & will if I know the
terrain is rocky or run on some roads. If it's muddy or sand, then I
don't bother.

On cold days I'll pack a rump rug.
