[endurance] Health Certificates

Out here in the west, most states require a health certificate which
references the coggins, and a brand inspection.

In Wyoming, the highway patrol routinely pulls over rigs with out-of-state
tags and if you don't have these papers they will impound your horses for
30 days or more. It will cost you board at $10 per day and a fine for
violation.

During certain disease outbreaks, you are required to stop at
port-of-entries and get clearance. (Some states you have to stop outbreak
or not).

Last year, Combined Training shows in this area were requiring a negative
blood test within three days of the show.

Northern Colorado Endurance Riders put on 2 to 4 rides per year. Starting
last year, we check health certificates. We require certificates be issued
within the week prior to the ride.

Best advise I'd give is keep the phone number of the USDA handy. They have
telephone hotlines on what papers are required in each state on a given
day. Also, call ahead to the ride management if you are not certain what
papers they are requiring.
