Hi - in reference to wet weather gear - I'm in the Pacific Northwest - here
Mother Nature never let's up with the rain - don't let them tell you any
different (ok so there is a few great sunny days - but we don't tell the
non-locals - they may move here ya know) anyhow - in our area we get to try
all sorts of wet weather gear out - horse and rider -

rider - those ski suits seem to work well - and as an alternative to the
goretex raingear that is so spendy - if you need to save $ head down to the
local thrift shop - this is a good time of year - the ski bunny's get rid of
'last years' trendy color ski suit and you can pick them up for $7-$10 bucks!
What a deal - you're just going to trash them on the trail anyways - at that
price you can afford a new one when you need.
Here if it rains and you've got nothing you usally get soaked to the bone and
then I get cold - I'm ok wet - I hate wet AND cold! I roll up and pack on
top of my horse bum warmer behind the saddle a Rain poncho. seems to work
better for me then the Rain coats - which I have used - or the outback coats
I don't like them as well anymore - the Rain poncho - covers me AND my horse
in the back and I can move freely around under it - the coat restricted my
movement while riding to much

For horse - I'm trying it this season I found a waterproof cover sheet that
lays like a wool cooler would over the horse -- I'm going to lay it over his
blanket - it covers up to his ears and down to his tail , and is long on the
sides -- I'll let you know how it works - it wasn't much more than $35 bucks
- cheaper then those spendy waterproof horse blankets for $200 + a pop - I'm
on a budget - got horses ya know.......

Good luck - hope this helps -
May we all Ride Safe and Sound (and dry...)
