Thank you everyone for responding to my questions about my socially inept
mare. What I have ended up doing was going out to the barn these past couple
of nights and literally doing nothing beside her. (for looooong lengths of
time)
It had dawned on me at that point I had done nothing but place demands on her
since her arrival, so this was quite a change.
It took a long time, but she eventually started to come over and sniff me.
By the second night she was licking my coat and eating her dinner without too
much interruption.
I now have her placed with the other three horses.
The weather is finally clear and she really looks a great deal happier.
Today I will begin to pick up where we left off with our training before the
harsh weather conditions set in.
Anyone else out there getting a reprive from the nasty weather and excited to
GET OUT?
Im glad that we had time to discuss issues such as personal safety, tack and
feed this winter. Though the bad weather is not over yet, I truely feel a
lot better equiped to make sound decisions for my situations.
Thanks everyone for being out there. It is comforting.
