[endurance] ?? shock absorbing shoes ??

I have a 7-year old who has an ouchy navicular bursa in one foot. He
shows none of the classic navicular symptoms (doesn't flinch with the
hoof testers, has big feet, nothing suspicious in the X-rays). When
he is off, it is very slight and only when you trot him in a circle
clockwise. He went sound after 2 months in wedge pads and 2 months
on isoxoprine. I kept up the isox for another 2 months and the wedge pads
for another 4. He has steep pasterns already, which is probably why
he is having problems (but why in only one foot???) so with the wedge
pads, he looks like he is about to topple over. Plus they really
shorten his stride. And I can't compete in NATRC with pads. I'm not ready
to try endurance. He'd surely kill me, himself, and every one around us
trying to get to the front.

I was hoping that a shock absorbing shoe might help his condition.
Does anybody out there use Slypner athletic horseshoes (stainless
steel base plate with polyurethane wearing sole)? Do they stay on?
wear well? reduce slipping on pavement? provide shock absorbtion?

Oh yeah, I just dropped a small fortune on some "Flex-Free" for this
same beast hoping it might keep him healthy too.

Any and all advice welcome.
