I thought the endurance riding community might be interested in the
announcement letter my friend (and veterinarian), Kerry Ridgway, is sending
out this week. His letter reads as follows:

Dear Clients, Dear Friends:

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS!!!
There have been several major changes in my life and the life of my
veterinary practice, EquiSport. First-the news of my practice.
As of February 1, 1996, we will have left the Sierras and my
practice will be in the community of Sonoma California. The address and new
phone numbers are:

Kerry J. Ridgway, DVM 707-935-1825
EquiSport 1-800-HORSE DR.
1420 Grove St. (1-800-467-7337)
Sonoma CA 95476 Fax: 707-935-1825

There are a number of conditions that have lead to this move. Over
the past five years, your acceptance of acupuncture and chiropractic, as
well as the other things that I do in my practice, has grown beyond my
expectations. For this, I thank each and every one of you who have made this
possible by your referrals and your allowing me to treat your horses.
When I started, I was able to service each area, approximately,
every three weeks. Now there are locations where it is sometimes three
months before I can return. This may still be satisfactory for those horses
who are on a maintenence basis; but for the horse with a new injury or for
cases that need treatment, e.g., biweekly or every 10 days, I am simply not
able to offer proper care and service. In order to solve this problem, it is
my intent to practice two or three days a week from the new and fixed
location in Sonoma.
This means-
YOUR HORSES CAN COME TO A CONSISTENT LOCATION AND I CAN BE
EXPECTED TO BE AVALIABLE ON A ROUTINE BASIS.

As most of you know, I often spend from 7 to 21 days "on the road," without
ever returning to my home. Scheduling these past months has become more and
more of a nightmare both for you, my clients, and for the business service
that schedules my calls. My schedule can often not be made to fit yours, or
your problem could not wait, or you needed my service but not for another
week or two. Sonoma is demographically much more central to my practice, so
I will continue a traveling service to most areas. I will be able to do so
on a more consistent and advanced notice basis, and will still be able to
properly care for horses needing more frequent and consistent treatment.
I have long been frustrated that I have been unable to utilize some
of the most valuable aspects of acupuncture. Some of acupuncture's best
usage comes in treatment of, for example, many eye and skin problems, as
well as acute and chronic degenerative problems of an internal medical
nature. Since these cases require consistent, and initially, relatively
short intervals between treatments, I have been unable to provide in-depth
treatment for such cases. The same holds true for chronic degenerative joint
diseases, ect.
In other words,
WE WILL TRULY BE ABLE TO TAKE IN "REHAB" PROBLEMS AND MEDICAL CASES.

Our facility has a six stall barn, 7 paddocks with shelters, a large
working arena, and a round pen. We will have an on-site office where we will
be able to house products, videos, literature, etc. that will help in our,
and your, quest to maintain your horse in good health and optimum performance.
You may have noted that I keep saying "we". That is because I have
a marvelous partner in my work and in my life. On September 2nd, I married
Christine Chantal Heraud, in Benon, France. Christine is a skilled
equestrienne, who evented and jumped competitively in France, and who, for
the past seven years, has trained jumpers in New South Wales, Australia.
She has spent time in the United States prior to our marriage doing TTEAM
clinics and completing the equine massage course taught by "Equissage."
Christine is interested in Chinese Medicine and herbology and will be
expanding her education in this area.
Christine will be assisting me with my cases, but also will be
operatiing her own business under the name "Cheval Promotions". She will be
selecting and training jumper prospects as she has successfully done in
Australia. Her abilities will help me in designing appropriate follow up
exercises and movements that will facilitate "rehab" and improved performance.
With our cooperative efforts, we hope to provide you with an
expanded and a more in-depth approach. The goal is keeping your horses well
and enabling their optimum comfort and performance. We look forward to
working with you, and showing you our new home.
Walk in balance, move in harmony, my friends,
Kerry Ridgway, DVM and Christine
