Hi,

Living in FL it is very difficult to go up North to the mountains without
padding. I hate to put on pads for several reasons. One of the first
things is that steel shoes with pads have absolutely no traction in rough
terrian.

This year I tried Slypners. We went to Tennessee for a week of riding and
did 50 the last week end. Misty had on Slypners and no pads and she did
great. Absolutely no problem with the rocks and with the extra traction
she was like a mountain goat.

I also found that Misty can go a full six weeks between resets. With steel
shoes I had to get her reset every four weeks. So while the are more
expensive than regular shoes - my farrier bills are less.

One final note. My farrier doesn't like to work with them at all. They
take a little more time and a little more care than regualar shoes to
shape. So while I don't have to see him as often I have to listen to him
complain when I do.

Truman
