Slypner shoes seem to be great for some horses and not great for others. I
have not tried them myself, but have freinds who have. horses with thin hoof
walls seem to make poor candidates for theses shoes and yes, farriers hate
them unless and until they have lots of experience with them. If you don't
have a good farrier who is willing to learn, don't use them as they will be
more trouble than they are worth. I also know that the Slypner shoes come in
certain sizes only and can only be minimally shaped or they won't hold the
inserts. Make sure your horse can use one of their standard sizes before
buying or you will be disappointed.
