Your horses basic back conformation should not change appreciably from summer
to winter. If it does, you have a major problem with your feeding program!!
This is another reason to fit a horse during the "in between " time and use
good pads ALL THE TIME.
Sharon Saare had 7 different tree sizes and you know there are more than 7
different shapes to horses backs. I have been able to fit 95% of the horses
I have attempted to fit with these trees. My own horses all wear a Sharon
Saare. I do my best to keep them in good flesh all year round and I don't
have a back problem. All three horses take the same size Sharon Saare Saddle
even though they are quite different in build. And, the Sharon Saare Saddle
is NOT PERFECT on all three, it is just the closest to doing the best job. I
also use her thick wool felt pads and her "happy back" which is a
flo-material on the horse that is marginal on the saddle fit. I have yet to
have a sore back. Sharon Saare Saddles are the closest thing I have found toa
"custom" fit without having an absolutely custom saddle. And, if you get
another horse or want another size tree, you can trade in a used Sharon Saare
towards another size.

Good luck
