Personally, I have a problem with the membership being the same for first
time as well as renewals. In the past, it has been lower if you were
renewing. I can see charging some extra to people who are new-paperwork,
computer time, etc-but for those of us who just need a sticker to go on
our card that we already have?...
Down here in the s'east region, the ride managers always charge the 5.00
fee, and they don't rebate it in any way. I was even at one ride that
charged the limited distance riders the 5.00 fee. I tried arguing, but
they said that AERC wanted it that way..Haven't been back to that ride.
I guess the only reason to stay a member is so mileage counts. If you
wait too long, you have to pay a processing fee so the mileage can be
researched. But with this Net thing, the EN is almost obsolete. I
usually know what will be in it long before I get the mag.
Maybe one solution is to try what IAHA does. Have membership through the
local clubs. It increases revenue for the club, and makes it cheaper for
the IAHA dues. That is one option. Any other suggestions?
