I've done both type of rides, - all vet checks in camp and all vet checks
on the trail. There are advantages to both. Mentally I like to stay on
the trail once until it is over. On this type of trial a crew is very
handy. I have done it without a crew, but you are dependent on management
getting your stuff to the checks - which doesn't always happen.

Last year I did the Long Leaf 100 in Mississippi. In that ride all vet
checks are in camp. I had prepared myself for a hard ride becuase of
leaving camp so much. I was very pleasently susprised how easy it was to
leave camp six times. Once we were about a mile out of camp, both Misty and
I seemed to perk up and not mind leaving camp. But it was a very nice day,
cool and sunny and the trails are very nice - so the temptation was not
there to just bag it.
