About 3 years ago, a freak storm rolled out of the gulf dumped snow on
Atlanta in March. About three week after that storm came through I was
ridding in my normal area and two of us were galloping down a nice wooded
train, when Misty slammed on the brakes. After I got my balance and
composure back I noticed that both horses had stopped and both were looking
ahead with ears up. The horses turned around and took off and then I heard
a large crack. A very large limb fell about 10 feet in front of where we
were standing. I guess the horses heard the first cracks and knew
something was worng. If we had been hit we would have probably been dead.
With Opal doing its thing to the gulf coast there is probably still a lot
of timber that has yet to come down - so be careful in the woods for a
while.
