A group of us were planning to go there this weekend! This morning,
(Thursday) I called the Pt. Reyes National Seashore, and they had a recorded
message saying how many acres had been burned and how many homes had been
lost, and that all park personnel were busy helping out. They had no one
available to answer the phone...and they would try to update the message as
soon as possible. They also said the entire park would be closed for at least
2 weeks. Then I called Stewart Horse Camp and they confirmed that the park
and the camp were closed. The camp was being used as a place for the inmates
to sleep when they weren't fighting the fires. I asked how far away it was
and she said about 2 miles. They had just received word that the fire had
reached Divide Meadow. For those of you who do not have a map...where Old
Pine Trail intersects with Bear Valley Trail, is where Divide Meadow is
(there is a bathroom there also). This area is south of the Visitors Center.

I can't imagine what our beautiful riding trails might look like....It is so
sad.

After hearing this awful news, we came up with Plan B, which was to go to the
horse camp at Caspar. But apparently all the other folks who were planning
to go to Pt. Reyes beat us to it, and it was all filled up. Plan C is to go
to the beach at Ft. Bragg for the day!!!
