to others as well.

Hello Steph,

At first, i'm sorry for a later answer, but i was out of home for

a few days. It's a pleasure for me to participate on endurance on-

line. I'm a new user of Internet and one of the first theme that i

search is endurance.

I lived in Brazil, most especifically in Rio de Janeiro(my city),

and i practise endurance since 1993,September. We (me and my wife)

have two mares. One is Anglo-Arab with 8 years old (my) and another

is an Egptyan Arab with 6 years old (my wife).

Despite in my country we have an one of the most bigger and

important breeding of arabian horses (after USA), we are all

learning about endurance, because this sport start at 1989. The

National Championship start at 1991.

Here there are two kinds of proofs. One is named "Regularity"

(Regularidade in portuguese) and another is "Free Speed"(Velocidade

Livre in portuguese). Regularity is a type that you have a fixed

time to do the trail (like a rallye) and the time is controled for

each one. The winner is who finish in the fixed time and have best

condition at end vetcheck. Free Speed is the same regulamentation

aproved by FEI and used in WEG (World Equestrian Games).

Regularity have four ranges:

-20km till 35km (average speed: 8 up to 12km/h)->Open(iniciation)

-30km till 45km (average speed:10 up to 15km/h)->Graduated D

-45km till 80km (average speed:10 up to 15km/h)->Graduated C

-80km till 100km(average speed:10 up to 15km/h)->Graduated B

Free Speed have two ranges:

-up to 80km (50 miles) -> Graduated A Short Distance

-80km till 160km (100 miles) -> Graduated A Long Distance

I'm a Graduated C (with both mares), but until the end of this

year i will do my first Free Speed proof (until 80km).

So it's all. I'm sorry for my poor english (I need to learn the

vocabulary about horses).

GoodBye,

Carlos Valenca
