Riding in Ireland

Hello all!

I been quietly getting to know all of you through your e-mail. I'm
Judy Long, Nick Warhol's wife. I am going to London on 8/30 and then
over to Galway in Ireland on 9/2 for a week of riding through the
countryside. I would be interested in any tips, hints or ideas that
any one has for this kind of trip (or any trip to Ireland). I've
spent time in London before so I know my way around somewhat. Is
there anyone on this list from Ireland? I know there are some members
in the U.K.

I am taking along my helmet (of course), gloves, a waterproof shell,
water-resistant boots, riding pants (unfortunately not water proof),
and polartec riding tights. I am also bringing a waist pack (bum
bag), and water bottles and holders. I haven't decided whether I want
to pack a cantle bag and a rump rug but they are both small so I may
take them along anyway.

Thanks for any info.

Judy

P.S. We do have a happy horse story at our barn this week. Nick has
gone off to pick up Cindy the 17 year old Shetland pony at the
Peninsula Equine clinic tonight. She has belonged to a girl at our
barn since the pony was 6 and the girl was 10. She had been off and
on colicky last week and got pretty uncomfortable Wednesday night. We
got her over to the clinic around 11:00 pm and she had exploratory
surgery later that night. It turned out that she had a twist but that
the intestine was still pink and had not died so no re-section of the
bowel was done. She is doing well, is thinner than she has been in
years, and is coming home tonight. It's nice to have a scary
situation come out with a happy ending.
