The limited distance rides in FL were scored this way until two years ago.
It basically works by filling out the BC sheet. After each horse finished
(pulse of 60) he had to present his horse for a pulse and CRI at 10
minutes. The ride then had a time frame (either 30 min or an hour) to
present his horse. After this time the horse was examined according to the
standard BC exam. Then the riders weight and ride time was used with the
vet score, according to the BC formula, to determine the winner. The
winner was not always the first to finish.

It worked very well.
