This was also a problem at the XP ride which camps right on the highway.
My husband caught three loose horses running down the highway in the early
morning. A semi just stopped in time! Our stallions, who must be double
tied to the trailer, always let us know when a horse is loose! Even double
tying to the trailer is not always foolproof, and the horses involved in
this were in corral panels, so I don't know what the solution is! Some
will run off anytime they get the chance; mine did once when I went to put
the bit in his mouth as everyone was getting ready to leave!
