Hi everyone, my two cents...
I only am ABLE to ride 3 days a week. I usually have a 6-8 mile workout 2
times, then the third is a 25 mile on the weekend. I don't have anyone to
watch my kid while I am out, and I don't have a pony suitable for her to
ride that far. before we do our first 25 though, I aim to be able to
trot/canter the entire 6-8 mile loop. THen we are ready to start throwing in
25 milers. It takes me about three 25s to get the horse where he will gallop
up the driveway at the end of the ride, and then I am ready for a slow 50
mile. I usually have excellent heart rates and recoveries on my dudes, so I
know I am not killing them. THe first 50 is usually harder on me than it is
on them. I think all these people who are saying don't overdo it are right.

I also aim to have that 25 done in 3 hours (I am in Old Dominion mountain
type terrain.)
HOpe this helps. HAven't pulled from a ride yet, but then I haven't been to
that many rides yet either.
Gwen
