There WERE weight divisions back then.  There was overall 1-25 nationally,
and then first national LW and HW and Jr.  In 1982, Wayne McMinn and Raja
were first HW, and Brian Weaver and Sari Bimbo were first Jr (both from the
NE region).  I do not know the first LW.

Selection was miles and points, straight.  He who placed best in the most
rides throughout the season in any region, won.  There were also regional
awards.
