Fwd: Re: [RC] [RC] Finish Line question for LD Riders - Laurie Durgin
I noted your seeming to want ot slow down the Ld riders, Why?Do you think
they aren't pacing properly, inexperienced...?(I am just learning, curious
as to what you think and why, so I can do it right.)Is this a "local
"problelm or pretty much national?)thanks Laurie and Rascal the longtooth.

I'm thinking about this from the ride manager's perspective, Steph. I
think giving an LD rider a finish based on recovery time (as it is now) is
more complicated for the finish line timers and the vets. Why NOT give a
finish time based on crossing the finish line, just as with 50 or 100 mile
rides. Then allow only the same amount of recovery time as is given the
50
or 100 milers. If the LD horse doesn't recover in that allowed time, then
DQ
him. If LD rides are to be "training" rides then run them the same way.
Originally, I was in favor of "recovery before completion", and I was in
favor of almost anything that would slow the LD riders down, but some of
them don't seem to be doing that no matter what the rules are. So let them
ride 25-35 miles under the same rules
