While there is truth in the statement that the world has too many of these,
what the world does NOT have in many cases is GOOD ones.  There are culls
aplenty, but GOOD horses and GOOD dogs are far too hard to find.  While this
does not apply to the PetSmart issue, I've seen this statement bandied about
by many to try to "rationalize" attempts to shut down all breeding.  And
that, indeed, would be a tragedy.
