By allowing completions for horses who cross the "finish line" but who pulse
down after 6 hours, it rewards those who didn't pace correctly, didn't bring
horses who were ready for that trail on that day or for whatever reason
couldn't make it AND meet pulse criteria in 6 hours.

It attempts to keep riders from pushing their horses too much by shaming
them into it. I think people either "get" the current system or they don't.
Saying the ride time is one thing and the finish/placing time is another
needlessly complicates things. It isn't going to make it any easier to "get"
    it.

Bringing a horse into a vet check at or near pulse criteria is a key
strategy for success at 50's and above, is it not? Leaving things the way
they are contributes to teaching that success strategy without needlessly
    complicating things.

Trying to shame people into doing things differently by publishing the ride
time and pulse down time side-by-side is just plain offensive.

I think AERC meeting and board time should be spent on other things.
