RE: [RC] Finish Line question for LD Riders - Roy

At the risk of also sounding unsympathetic, I do not see any problem with
the existing finish line rules. If you can't get there in the time allowed,
too bad. If we make this change, then the people who don't make that will
want a change, the line needs to drawn somewhere, and our current rules say
it is not on the ground for LD.

The other point raised in this discussion has long been a problem for me. I
do not want to see anyone else set my hold times, but should hold times
effect the time allowed for the ride. In theory, I could have a 25 mile
ride with three 1 hour holds, causing the horses to do the trail in three
hours. I know its an extreme example, but I think it makes the point. I
personnally do not think hold times should be included in ride time. a
possible option would be a window of propotional total hold time for each
distance, similar to the ride times. Like a total of X minites on a 25 vs Y
    min on a 100.
