Thanks for that very wise and kind post, Angie.

Just today I had my sweet little bay mare put down. She was suffering from chronic laminitis and a malignant melanoma.  I have had her for 22 years.  It hurts soooo very much!!  Just kind of takes the breath out of you; I have a hard time looking the other horses in the eyes...  This is the second old gal I have had to put down this year.  There's an old retired endurance horse still here; he's 28 years  old; oh, my God, I know I will have to do this over and over again, as long as I own horses. ( I also lost 2 old kittie friends this year).  We love our animals, and, as irrational as this statement is, I hope it NEVER gets any EASIER.   Renie
