[RC] [RC] RC: popped splint? - Deanna German

I was actually pretty surprized from Amy's post that the vet made that big
of a deal out of a splint. My mare popped both of hers shortly after I put
her under saddle (wearing splint boots!), was never lame, never painful. I
backed way off the work and started her back slowly. I rode her in a couple
of novice CTRs with the splints still showing. They eventually went down to
    being barely observable.

She "conked" one again recently and got some mild filling. No pain, no heat.
I simply didn't ride for a week or so. All seems to be fine. Maybe I could
have done more.... but I don't know what my mare would do on stall rest for
a splint! I know I'd dread coming around that corner of the barn where her
stall is, half expecting to see boards kicked out.

    Deanna
