BTW, 4-legged predators use scents all the time.   They roll in the manure
of their prey species to disguise their own scent, and by smelling of
familiar manure, they can stalk much closer without as much concern for
shifting wind conditions.  When your dog goes out and rolls in the horse
poop, he is simply doing his instinctive hunter thing, and he can't figure
out why you are so grossed out when he subsequently comes in and rolls on
your new carpet or climbs onto your bed....
