Speaking of .....
I am dealing with the micro-chip size model of rat - cute little
house-mouse-mice.
And, one of my techniques sounds akin to the aforementioned one - using
barrels with feed at bottom to trap rats --
I use a deep bucket filled with maybe a few inches of water - placed in
my pump room (room under my kitchen which houses only my hot-water
heater, water pump and a fuse box, and then check it every so often. At
the last check - ugh, ugh, -- there were FIVE mice floating in it!
Remember they need WATER, too! - works well in a "locked-in" place.
