[RC] Boots in Cactus - Connie Owens

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone who rides out where the cactus & scrub thrive
uses boots on their horses? I train semi-regularly out at the 6-O in
Cleburne TX and last time my mare picked up two spikes in her lower
front leg. Didn't seem to cause a problem and I could remove them
easily. A little concerned about that since I know of someone who's
horse wound up with a tendon infection from a pesky cactus spine! And I
really try not to ride out in the cactus, she must have brushed up
against on the side of the trail.

I was thinking of some leather splint boots with neoprene lining for
riding in that type of country. I normally ride w/o any boots (tend to
pick up too much plant life anyway) . Any advice is appreciated!

    God Bless Ridecamp,

    Connie Owens
