It's our responsibility to find out. I do wish the leaflets were easier
to decipher though. I just ask for one at the hunting desk at Walmart,
but since I live in Georgia, 4 miles from TN (right where 2 counties
meet) and about 15 miles from Alabama, I need to monitor several states
and counties. The "zone C, zone D" stuff is difficult.

Actually, I wear neon all the time when I ride in areas where there are things to hunt or even just somewhat remote areas. I've seen unweathered .22 shell casings along trails out in the heavily used (by hikers, bikers, equestrians -- but not good deer habitat) forest trails around here -- people come out to plink at whatever. Even if the rangers hear the shots the plinkers are gone before a ranger can get there.

Then there's the plain old poachers, who have zilch concern about seasons or even private property. A few years back we were holding a championship CTR on a huge private ranch nearby when our safety riders came across a couple guys in camo with guns hiking down one of the canyon roads. Our guys saw one of the ranch trucks on the main ranch road a few minutes later and flagged it down to report what they saw. Sure enough, the camo guys were poachers and when the ranch game manager (and the Fish and Game Warden he called) caught up with them they found them with a young buck they were trying to haul out. (at least the poachers were skilled enough to not take out any of our riders <g>!)
