I happen to think if you got a RO pull for “I know my horses, and this wasn't a day to make it work for 50 miles with that horse that day. “   that is great.  That is what I have been pushing for.   Up here that would not have been a RO, but a metabolic since it was horse, not rider related.  You made my point.  Thanks.

P.S. My wife had exactly the same happen to her, it was totally voluntary, the horse was fit to continue, and she was given a Metabolic Pull.

AH...see.  You don't know me.  My horse was fit to continue and we were continuing.  But, I didn't think that it was a good time to try and do so.  There was a virus going around and my horse didn't eat well (like normal) overnight.  I made a decision to walk him back to camp ( I even rode him for a while) I had a feeling if he was coming down with something I would make him real sick.  Also, didn't want my horse drinking out of the rides water tubs, if there was a chance he was incubating the virus.  Back at camp,  I had the vet check him and my horse was normal.  He said to watch him for a few days and see IF he does show any signs.  So far, not a sign to be seen.
So, you see it was an over protection on my part, not that my horse couldn't have completed a single one day 50 miler.
    Talk with you later,
