[RC] 100 Miler Win Times in 2002 - AprJhn

Ok, this post made me curious. So I went looking at the posted ride results for the 100 milers of 2002.

Many of the rides were won in 11.5 - 14 hour ride time. (7.1 - 8.7 mph average speeds)

There were 5 or 6 that were won in 9.5 hours or so ride time (10.5 mph average speed). At least one of those got BC and against a horse (among the top 10) that had a 15 hour ride time (assuming the 15 hour horse stood for BC).

And there was even one that was won in 8 hours ride time (12.5 average speed). That horse also won BC against a horse that had a 13 hour ride time (assuming the 13 hour horse stood for BC). Six riders in the top 10.

No idea about the terrain of these rides (or the IAHA ride), but I did find it interesting to look at the metrics. Maybe Mike can get us a chart of the winning ride times of 100 milers! I can do that, but it'll take me awhile to get the data into my computer and make the chart. :)

I'm also interested in comparing to the ride times/speeds of 50 milers, too. Boy, I told you I'm a numbers freak.

PS. Just a reminder...the winning times posted are the actual ride times, minus any holds. So the average overall speeds would change when adding back in the ride holds.
