    Just my 2 cents worth...  I can't imagine any parent putting their 5-year-old on a horse and allowing that child to ride 100 miles.  Seems like an ego-extension of the adult.  Surely a 5 year old would not be able to aspire to doing a 100 miler. 

    That said, I still believe there is NO need for an AERC rule on this matter.  AERC's job is to protect the HORSE --- not necessarily the RIDER.......  Let's hope that each parent will use common sense and reason in this matter.  I think most parents will........
