[RC] need advice on fitting the wide round horse - Amy Martin

Coming out of lurking to ask a question. I own a 3 year old half Arab that
is wide and mutton withered. After much waiting I have received a prototype
of the new Abetta Arabian Endurance which has a wider tree than their
regular endurance. I sent in a withers tracing and this is the saddle they
picked would best fit. The saddle still rolls round when I get on and when
I ride. Is this just a fact owners of wide backed mutton withered horses
must learn to live with or should I continue with my saddle search? The
regular Abetta endurance also always slips to the side I mount and was
leaving dry and then white spots on her withers. I am using a woolback pad.
It is finally getting cool and I couldn't manage to ride her into a sweat
today to check for dry spots in the new saddle. I try my best to ride
balanced. Sometimes it seems like the pommel of the saddle is in the middle
of her back then I look behind me and the middle of the back of the saddle
is off to the left(handy to have that black dorsal stripe on my mare to
check if saddle is straight). I had her fitted with Sharon Saare trees and
the closest fit was the E tree. I am not sure the right thing is to buy her
an expensive custom saddle when she is just three years old and still
changing and growing. But I want her to be comfortable and I want to feel
secure. Any suggestions of saddles or saddle pads or other tricks? Maybe
breast collar? I don't notice the saddle slip forward and back but then I
do live near Houston and it is pretty flat out here. Thanks so much --Amy
    and Tequiza
