Kathy, I voiced my opinion of the family issue well before the midyear board
meeting. I'm sorry that the focus on the family issue drew our attention
away from the citizenship issue. The family issue has been clarified by
members of the BoD, and the only problem there seems to be with it is
whether one is comfortable leaving how dues are assessed up to the BoD or
whether one wants it spelled out. That still does not address the
    citizenship issue.

Regardless of the length of time that the changes have been posted, the fact
remains the there is still one more step involved in making sure that the
bylaw amendments say what they should. If there is still a problem (and
there is), then voting them down, fixing the problem, and bringing them back
for a revote is a perfectly appropriate way to handle the problem. Rather
than being embarrassed for Ridecamp, I'm proud that several people have come
forward, both here and on other lists, and have openly discussed the
problem. A NO vote is not a declaration of war or a disapproval of the hard
work that has gone into this process. It is simply a way of saying that
there is still something that needs fixed before we carve these bylaw
amendments in stone. I'm not at all clear why you consider it to be
embarrassing to have a discussion of why some of us feel we should vote in a
    particular way.

    Heidi
