[RC] E-Z Boot Size & Trimming Soles - Suvut

My sister's Arabian recently had to wear E-Z boots because of a HORRIBLE trim job, where her farrier just about pared away all this poor animal's soles.  We measured across the widest part of his foot and got 5" on one foot and 5-1/4" on the other -- so he would take a #2 E-Z boot.  Funny thing was --- this horse's feet look quite small because they are very wide but very short.  We were very surprised that he would take a #2.......

Needless to say, that particular farrier won't ever touch her horses again.  This horse was dead-lame (walked like a foundered horse) for about 5 weeks.  So painful and sad to see.  We actually thought he WAS foundered and had decided to think about having him put down, when a WONDERFUL farrier by the name of Tom Keith (endurance rider Sue Keith's husband) responded to my emergency call and informed us why the horse was so lame.   (Thanks Tom!!)
