Verbal cues

I attended a riding school in Mexico many years ago and I thought it was
neat that the horses knew their verbal cues in both English and Spanish.
My own horse knows several of the traditional verbal cues, plus "left" and
"right" for when I am tailing her.  She also knows "it's ok, Willow,
you're alright" for those times when I feel that certain bend in her body
indicating she's thinking of doing a big spook.
