Re: [RC] Rider Pain - Maureen A. Fager

    HI,
You last post was kinda confusing, but would like to throw out some general type of suggestions:
The suggestions given so far all have merit, it can get better as you progress. Many endurance riders use lamb's wool fleece on their saddles to make them more comfortable. They are a bit expensive but appartently worth it (I don't have one but wish I did! :0 Be sure you get pure wool, as a synthetic is not the same and they can be hot and trap mouisture. Pay attention to under wear. Try out different types and wear whatever is the most comfortable. We have heard on RC testimonials to: thongs, cotton, Cool Max, silk, ect. It is a personal preference; ie whatever works. Generaly, try to stay away from rolled seams and go for flat or no seams if possible.
Outerwear, it matters too. There is a reason most endurance riders don't wear jeans--the seams can hurt, the crothes can bunch up, and the fabric is hot. There a few tough folks who still ride in nothing else, but most don't. Riding breeches or riding tights are good chocies. They must fit snug as loose one's can bunch ect. and become uncomofortable.
Doesn't hurt to be sure your equitation is OK and you are riding balanced. Work with a riding instructor or good friend or mentor who can help improve unbalanced riding. One more aspect to consider, some horse's are more comfortable to ride than others.
Hope your friend gets her problems worked out, as the sport is worth it, if you aren't too uncomfortable.
    Happy Trails,
    Maureen
