    Bobbie,

I understand that it is a work in progress - hence my
wording "as it currently stands". If it makes
clearer, "as it was used and implemented at the 2002
    OD".

The system of ranking rides is cumbersome, open to too
much interpretation, and unworkable for new rides with
little history or whose trail changes significantly
    from year to year.

I'm not against improving a ride system for the safety
of the horse. In my opinion, the concept MMK has just
wasn't ready for prime time at the 2002 OD.

As to the team concept... Great idea. I do like
that. BUT.... Many who arrive at an ednurance ride
are new to riding or new to an area. Let's think
about what the process would be for getting them on
teams. I'm not sure that randomly assigning them
    would be well received.

This team concept also removes the individual effort's
recognition that many strive for. How do we satisfy
that need to excell individually without the "ride
ranking" that runs into the problems outlined above?

    Linda
