[RC] RE [RC] advice for 48 - Vicki Austin

Steven,  It sounds like you have started riding correctly by getting a good instructor,   Dressage is the basis for ALL other riding.  Dressage just means "training"  and once you get the balance and disipline you will be able to do anything you want and so will your horse.

I teach a lot of older adults just starting out and they all hear the same lecture. I tell them--   Just because I teach you dressage doesn't mean you nessesarily have to show, you can go anywhere you want with this.

Good luck and welcome to the fun world of horses.   That is how my husband became interested in horses.  He thought I was having WAY to much fun with out him and decided he had better join me if he wanted to see much of me.  Now he wouldn't give his horse up.
