I know we should not advertise on ridecamp but it seems silly for >people to spend bug bucks when they don't have to.

    Paddi,
Then why do you keep doing it? Yes, I, too, thought we weren't supposed to advertise on ridecamp. The fact is there are several of us participating on this list who also sell variations of the bitless bridle, easy care products, etc. We are all also advertising on the endurance.net page.
There is a difference between sharing experiences & expertise with certain products and blatant advertising. Perhaps it's time for John & Steph to get a little more specific about what is allowable?

I think that it's of benefit to new riders to hear about products they may not know about. We have a lot of people who are new to the sport here.

They won't know about this equipment if we don't tell them, and they won't find or necessarily understand these solutions by perusing the offerings at endurance.net.

Telling the poster privately of course accomplishes that, but skips the wider audience.

Helping them understand that there are alternative products in a *short* post to the list while referring them to your website seems innocuous enough.

How often have we referred people to Evelyn's tights or Mary Coleman's blankets? Lots. Why? Because they represent a "good deal" for our fellow riders. Sure, that's endorsement rather than promotion, but promotion as described above has its place here too--or does it, Steph?
